July 2010
The ‘Kasey & Shane’ regional tour through NSW and VIC has now wrapped up.
It was a great run of shows and everyone had a great time.
It may be a while before Kasey and Shane appear onstage together again, so all those who managed to make it to one of the recent shows were extra lucky.
Shane is now finishing work on the writing of his new solo album, and will head into the studio at the end of this month to begin recording.
It’s a very exciting project with some great special guests involved.
At this stage, the first single is likely to hit radio at the end of this year, with the album release to follow in early 2011.
Keep checking the website for updates.
April 2010
We’ve just finished the Lyle Lovett tour, which was great fun.
During the tour we made a quick stopover to Tassie for the Breath Of
Life festival, and also Apollo Bay for their annual music festival. Now
we’re enjoying a few days off before heading into the studio next
week.
There’s not a whole lot of news to report at the moment.
I’ve been writing for the new album and starting to plan the
recording for later in the year. It’s a bit too early to tell
exactly what kind of album I’m working on at the moment…
it hasn’t fully revealed itself to me yet.
On the production side, I’ve just finished 6 bonus acoustic songs
to coincide with the upcoming Catherine Britt album in May. We recorded
and mixed them at The Sound Hole over the last few days. I’m
pretty excited about this album being released. I think it’s
really an amazing record and am super-proud of the work we’ve
done on it. I urge you all to check it out when it lands, it’s a
special album.
March 2010
We had a great time over in WA last month. The two shows in Geraldton
were a lot of fun, and the Perth Muster was great, also. We were lucky
enough to have some beautiful weather over there for the trip too,
which made it all the more enjoyable.
Last weekend was the second annual “Foggy Mountain
Jam” out at Nash’s property in the Hunter Valley.
Aside from Kasey and I, the show this year included James Reyne, Vika
& Linda Bull, Bill Chambers & Matt Joe Gow. Everyone
had a total blast, and both nights culminated in a huge jam session of
old classics with about 12 people on stage. I think it may be the best
festival we’ve ever played in Australia!
Mid-March sees us heading off on tour with Lyle Lovett, which
we’re all looking forward to – we are all big Lyle
fans, so we can’t wait to watch him perform every night. The
tour kicks off in Auckland on March 20 and continues through all the
major cities in OZ.
I’ve just started work on the next solo album. It’s
early days yet…I’m just toying with some ideas and
writing a few things here and there, but I’m feeling excited
about working on something new.
I’ve also just finished producing an album for Brisbane
singer/songwriter Steve Grady. Keep an eye out for his record when it
lands…he’s good! ‘Til next
time….SN
January 2010
Happy New Year!
Shane’s been busy in the studio lately. Not with a new solo
album, but as a producer. He’s been working on albums for Lou
Bradley, Catherine Britt, Angie Hart, and a new EP for Sarah Humphreys.
All of these albums are now released and available, except for the new
Catherine Britt album, which will be released later this year.
Most of the work has taken place at Shane’s “Sound
Hole” studio on the Central Coast of NSW, and with a few more
albums in the pipeline for 2010, it seems Shane’s stint as
“record producer” is just beginning.
Shane will be performing a few shows at the upcoming Tamworth Country
Music Festival in January. He’ll be doing two
‘duo’
shows with Kasey Chambers at Blazes Auditorium on January 20 and 22,
with both shows featuring some very special guests. You can also catch
him with the Bill Chambers Sessions at The Pub on Tuesday 19 January
for a dive into the Shane Nicholson back catalogue.
Also on Friday 22 January, Shane will be doing an APRA Songwriter
Speaks workshop at the Southgate Inn from 10am. And as usual,
he’ll be popping up at a few various shows as a guest
performer,
so keep your eyes peeled for some unannounced appearances across town
throughout the festival.

The USA Kasey & Shane tours for Rattlin’ Bones were a
huge
success. The guys had a great time playing to the US audiences again,
and were extremely excited to see so many people out at the shows.
Alas, all good things must come to an end and the Rattlin’
Bones
project is now set to wind down to a natural conclusion.
Shane is now about to take some time off the road to begin working on
his next solo album. There are still a few select shows around
Australia over the next few months, so keep your eyes peeled for venues
and dates popping up in the LIVE section.

Familiar Ghosts Album Launches were equally great.
November 2008
Familiar Ghosts hit
the shelves in Australia Saturday
15 November. The first single is ‘Summer Dress’,
and the
video clip was filmed in Melbourne.
October 2008
It’s been a pretty busy year so far. We’ve been so
happy
with the reaction to “Rattlin’ Bones”.
The tours have
been going great, and the ARIA nominations are a true bonus we
weren’t expecting! We’ve travelled almost all over
Australia, we just got back from a hectic trip to the US, New Zealand
is drawing closer, and there’s still a few more places to
play in
Australia before the year’s end. Despite our jam-packed
schedule,
I managed to find 14 days between trips to set up in my little studio
at home and record a new album. I gotta say, I had a great time making
this record. I immersed myself in my own little world, and for the
first time, made an album completely on my own, for better or worse. It
was a good experience, and I learned a lot. It was a very quick and
“under-produced” approach to recording. Nash mixed
it at
his studio for me, and he made it sound like I knew what I was doing
all along. The word is that next month it should be sitting on a few
record-store shelves around the country. It’s called
“Familiar Ghosts”. P.S. I’ll be doing a
short tour
next month with John Mellencamp and Sheryl Crow around the country, and
the album will be available at the shows. Talk soon, Shane.

March
2008
Shane Nicholson has made a new album in collaboration with Kasey
Chambers. The album is titled “Rattlin’
Bones” and is
set for release in Australia on April 19. Overseas fans should keep
their eyes peeled for international release dates soon.
The album is a collection of 14 duet-style songs, most of which were
co-written by Shane & Kasey, with a few written separately.
This
record marks a departure for both artists from their most recent work,
having a much more stripped-back, roots/country vibe, recorded
‘live’ in only 8 days. The album was produced by
Nash
Chambers and Shane, and is to be released through independent label
Liberation.
An extensive tour is planned for the coming year. Dates can be found in
the ‘Live Shows’ section, or at the brand new
“Kasey
and Shane” info site (www.kaseyandshane.com).
